How often should I trim my dog's nails?
Unlike humans, dogs can't trim their own nails; so they need our help cutting their nails. A dog's nails should be trimmed so they do not touch the ground when the dog is standing. For most dogs, this means nail trims every 3-4 weeks. If your dog is outside a lot, you may need to trim their nails less often. If your dog has clear nails, you should be able to see the blood vessel inside the toe/nail. Don’t trim down far enough to knick the vessel! If your dog has dark nails, you can try backlighting the nail with a flashlight to make the quick appear.
