Frankie: The Survivor
9 years ago Frankie experienced what could have been one of the scariest moments of his life...Hurricane Katrina. This special little pup lived in an animal shelter on the Gulf Coast and he survived that storm. Surviving wasn't enough, though. Many shelter animals survived the initial hurricane but soon had to be relocated or they would be put down for lack of proper shelter, food, and care. Frankie was transported to North Mississippi where space was limited. He needed to find a home and find it fast.
Jo Lynn Michael had recently lost her Boxer and an acquaintance from Picayune knew she was looking for a new furry friend to welcome into her home. She told her Frankie's story, which included being placed in one home but having to return to the shelter due to issues with a Parakeet, and invited her down to meet him. Jo Lynn and a friend ventured south to meet her potential new companion and she said she knew instantly. As Frankie peered around the corner at her, Jo Lynn knew they were meant to be together. Her friend took one look at him and said, “If you can't love him, you can't love anyone!”
Frankie is now 13 years old and the leader of the pack of five dogs at Jo Lynn's house. “He loves being with me, but he also gets along great with the other dogs and spends hours playing with them.” says Jo Lynn. “I'm so happy he ended up with me after his tragic early life. He definitely has it made.”
